If this is for a business negotiation (and not just a site visit) you need to get someone flown in who specializes in this skill. There are a lot of cultural things that are crucial to the negotiation that will be lost on someone who may be fluent in the language but doesn't know business practices.

My father retired from a huge Japanese corporation and has explained this to me over the years.

My Uncle was the VP of an Asian American division of a fortune 500 company. You not only need someone who speaks the language. You need someone who understands the business culture. You will get fricked if you don't.

I tried to help. This is what happens on the OT when you give a serious answer. I be he doesn't even bring a stack of business cards to the meeting.

Thanks for the help

I've already negotiated and closed on a large sale at a Japanese run petrochem plant

I am now hosting a kickoff meeting and just want someone to help translate to the Japanese engineering department

I underestimated the amount of stupidity and ignorance on this board. I am a bilingual Japanese American living in Baton Rouge. If I'm not available, my father has a lifetime experience of Japanese/English translation. Give me a call or email at kentakamo1 at gmail or .

Would you get them to translate this? It makes absolutely no sense.

Call LSU, Jap dept.

This no longer exist. I've studied Japanese, but I haven't practiced it in years so I can only hold basic conversation now.
