sch. 40 steel pipe weighs about 150# per foot....

just build your fire pit out of brick like everyone else....

Seriously, yard waste is illegal to open burn. Recreational (fireplace, camp fire, cooking) is ok. Go to LDEQs website. Search enviroschool. Find open burning presentation. Enjoy.

Don't do this. Buy 39 landscaping bricks. The ones used to hold soil back with the lip. Stack them in a circle 13 stones per layer. Done. Have had one for years no problems. Space the bottom rocks about 2 inches apart every other one to allow air and also so ashes wash out. Looks better than rusted piece of pipe that will burn the shite out of you.

I assume this is what you want to do. I think that could work but why spend the money? What you need to do is go to a utility company or an excavation company that lays pipe. I'm sure they will just give you a scrap piece or cut it for you.
