And of course, the talking heads walked right past his "prostitute" and "drug dealer" comments, not once, not twice, but three times.

The best part is at about 2:30 when the real VDOT guy is shown on screen, waiving to the camera and trying to let them know they're being pranked, with no luck. Idiots even misinterpreted that.

I think the guy waving was another reporter listening to the conversation and trying to get their attention to shut it down.

That is unreal that he lasted that long.

You could tell he wasn't expecting to be on that long and ran out of material and winged it after his first drug dealer, prostitute comment. He managed to get it in 3 times and ended the segment. First time I've seen a prank call last that long on live news. Captain Janks needs to take notes.

Could this be something where someone dubbed in the telephone voice? I'd like to believe the reporters weren't that dense.

It was 100% real, if you watch till the end they come back and apologize for him getting on misrepresenting himself and apologized for his comments.

They should have apologized for being completely oblivious. And people are relying on those anchors to report the news in D.C. Those are the people you are getting you news from, completely incompetent.

If you listen to the reporters, they identify him as the VDOT guy, and say that he's showing them the conditions, even though he's waiving and not talking while the voice on the line is speaking. I think the producer switched to that camera because he/she knew it was a hoax as well, and was trying to let them know.

Either way, holy shite.
