No estero is not a Naples but still have very nice housing and you are close to Naples and Ft Myers. You can find reasonable housing in Naples.
If you play golf I will invite you to my club and we can meet.
Good luck

Because of the "no state income tax" in both TX and FL, the property taxes are higher. shite, I pay less than $300/yr here in BR (OT poor girl who bought a condo at 23 yrs old). The housing is where the price indices are really higher than BR. Other than that, most things are what and what.
As for playing golf, I'm game to learn!!

I'm guessing that both sales and property taxes are higher in the Houston area.

8.25% sales tax in the woodlands

It's nice in Naples. We moved down here after college and never left. The beaches and golf courses are nice. It's very clean when compared to back home. It is a little different since almost everyone who lives here is a transplant. You will definitely miss the Louisiana food.

Actually no, BR is 9%, Naples is 6%, Woodlands is 8.25%

I was comparing Houston and Naples.
Effective property taxes are pretty high in Texas. Sales taxes are higher, too.

Keep me posted on your decision

Considering that i dont like golf or the beach, naples would do little for me in that front
Spring training baseball would be interesting
How close is naples to a major airport?

Fort Myers (RSW) is only thirty minutes away.
We also fly occasionally out of Fort Lauderdale. It is only an hour and a half away from us. Flights are a little cheaper, and there are more direct flight options.
The Red Sox and Twins both train in Fort Myers. The Red Sox just built a Fenway replica two years ago in Fort Myers. It's really nice.

I don't think I could do either since I prefer a small rural area. Anything more than 2000 people is the big city in my opinion. But out of the two I'd pick Naples. I hated Times Square in NYC way too many people for taste. Although West Point and the towns in that area was nice.

In about a year the new beltway will be completed south of the woodlands. That should alleviate a great deal if the traffic.

Naples is amazing. The amount of wealth there is ridiculous.

We went to Naples(Marco Island) earlier this year and flew into Tampa then drove south 2 hours. Miami and Ft Myers are your other 2 options.
Between Marco and Sarasota is the nicest area on the entire Gulf Coast.

Go for it babygirl. Spread those wings and experience life. You're not tied down, don't look back in 20 years and regret not taking a chance.
