A Region 8 woman, who admitted to throwing her now-deceased baby across the room, now faces neglect and manslaughter charges.

Police arrested Rebecca Mae Cox, 29, of Batesville on Tuesday on suspicion of manslaughter and first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

On Sunday, Dec. 13, Cox told investigators she found her 3-month-old son dead in his crib next to his twin brother.

According to court documents, Cox said she “noticed cockroaches crawling out of his mouth.”

When police arrived at the home, located in the 1500-block of North State Street, one of the officers administered infant cardio pulmonary resuscitation until an ambulance crew arrived and took the baby to White River Medical Center. The child was pronounced dead.

During their investigation, police learned that Cox “did not have a connection” with her deceased son and “could not stand him or stand holding him.”

The Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division reported receiving an anonymous tip from someone who “witnessed several disturbing behaviors” from Cox, including “tossing” the infant from some distance to his father, identified as Michael Goodman

According to the affidavit, she tested positive for methamphetamine, benzodiazepines, and THC (marijuana).

Goodman also tested positive for methamphetamine and benzodiazepines.

Cox also stated she knew the house was “bad” and the living conditions were “horrible.”

According to the court documents, investigators reported finding piles of dirty clothing and old food in the floor of the bedroom where the babies slept.

An investigators stated the house had a “severe” roach infestation.

“The roaches were observed crawling on the floor, table, appliances, furnishings, countertops and high chairs,” the affidavit stated.

I dunno, she might survive the trebuchet.

Drop her off in the middle of the Atlantic and tell her to start swimming would be my vote.

But they still let her keep the kids. Nice work DHS.

Death.

My wife is a child physcologist. She often works with kids who are taken into state custody due to abuse and neglect. I implore everyone to research foster care and adoption.

Having to live in Arkansas is punishment enough.

Punishment? I thought this was par for the course in Arkansas? I know all the inbreeding causes major issues, but I figured getting dropped on your head a few times while being tossed about had to play into the equation a bit too.

We just adopted a little girl and she was her mothers 6th kid. 3 went into the system and a family member had the other two. Watching the mother with the baby in the hospital it was apparent that she had no maternal instincts. I just can't fathom how she didn't have an instinct to care for her kid.

Pull her nails out one by one in an excruciatingly long period of time. Like slowly pulling them out over days. Every time she starts to fall asleep, starting tugging one out

Congratulations. To you and that little girl! It's disturbing what people will do while addicted to drugs. Many times it's a cycle and what the mother is doing to her children is what was done to her. My wife is currently dealing with an especially disgusting sexual abuse case involving a mother making her 1-2 year old daughters watch porn in order to train them for sex. The fricking judge just allowed their father and her visitation. The whole system is fricked.

This is just disgusting. Honestly, if she could understand her actions and sober up, that would be absolute torture. But I doubt she does and might never.
