So bringing up an old thread is nothing like bringing up an old thread?

Not in this particular instance, and you know I'm right. Not a chance you'll admit that though. How about you post another fresh meme?

I wear a three piece patch. In most (but not all) cops eyes, that makes me a "outlaw" biker.

For the record, I'm not an "outlaw" nor do I engage in any illegal activities.

What a coward. If a police officer cant take down a naked college student without a gun then he should be working security at a mall.

Yeah, that's what I say too. If I was carrying a gun and a naked guy lunged at me unexpectedly I would most certainly want to see who the better man is in a fair fight.

You just described George Zimmerman's actions yet he was indicted

George Zimmerman was absolutely NOT indicted by a grand jury. The charges against him were brought by the prosecutor alone under a Florida law that let her bypass Grand Jury. The were brought in that fashion most likely because the local investigation found (correctly based on that embarrassment they called a trial) the evidence didn't support a proscution but the media and POTUS demanded one.

quote:

Gil Collar was on an experimental drug, 25I that night. This is the same stuff that killed someone at jazzfest a couple years ago I believe. It affects everyone differently, and in some cases enables you to tolerate pain that one usually wouldn't be able to tolerate. Unfortunately it can turn a nice kid into a rabid monster, and that's what happened here unfortunately. On his way to the Police Station from the dorms, he jumped into a car at a stop sign and bit a girl. The guy driving punched him repeatedly in the face and apparently Gil wasn't affected by the punches at all. I hate that this happen, and I can't imagine I would have shot him but I'm sure he looked absolutely insane. This was the same time that bath salts were all in the news so I'm sure that type of thing was on the cops mind. I've heard this cop was a douche, but I really can't judge unless I was in that situation. Basically just a really sad story that involved a death after taking 25I for the first time. Moral of the story, don't ever touch that drug, or any of those experimental drugs for that matter.

How dare you bring facts to a TD cop hate thread!

If you've never fought someone on one of these drugs, you've got no idea what they can do. Pepper spray is ineffective. Tasers are often ineffective. Their strenght in incredible. I'm an EMT. We and the PD responded to a call one night and encountered a female that didn't weigh 100 pounds going full on nuts attacking everybody and everything (walls, furniture, etc) in the house. She'd already bitten her husband's forearm arm clear to the bone. It took four men to subdue her. As we pinned her to the ground, two guys had her torso pinned to the ground while the third was trying to cuff her. I had her legs at the calves and was laying on them. I'm 5-11, 190 and she was lifting me off the ground with her kicks.

Given what he'd already done that night and what he was on (and the fact that the officer wasn't issued a taser which might or might not have worked), the officer really had two choices - let him run off had hope he came down before seriously hurting people or shoot him. It is pretty much a guarantee he wasn't going to take him in a fight.

As a parent (who also has a Wetumpka, Al address), I feel for his family. Everything indicates he was a good kid who was probably just feeling out the freedom that comes with being an adult and away from home for the first time but the fault for what happened that night rests solely on him and whomever supplied the drugs.

You can find numerous examples of cops using excessive force with no effort at all but this isn't one of them.

Campus policemen are state employees but far from cops. More like a mall security guy. Bright idea allowing them to pack. They should do the same as the rest of us, call 911. Has there been a rash of toy campus cops being killed or something.

They are not mallcops. They are policemen who have authority to haul your arse to jail.

No idea, I was following the circumstances around this case somewhat closely around the time it happened and forgot a lot about it.

I think I recall some reports where the camera outside the station showed the kid acting real crazy and the cop backing up until they were both off cam and the kid was shot off camera. Some girl also reported him lunging at her and trying to get at her inside her car or some shite. Dude was fricked up somehow, I don't think that is really arguable- just if the shooting was actually justified.

I think I remember seeing on the news that he was some Christian kid from Wetumpka.

his friends and family were obviously shocked.

I don't know any real details but I thought I remembered something about him not being a party animal.

and that is why people couldn't even begin to make sense what happened.

So you can punch a mall cop and not be charged. Awesome.
