BATON ROUGE - Following nationwide attention for a series of dogged investigative stories, Chris Nakamoto has announced he will be pursuing journalism away from Baton Rouge.
"In life we all have decisions that we have to make. Some are easy, and some have to be made with careful consideration and prayer. I firmly believe that new challenges are what we should all strive for in life by avoiding complacency," Chris said in a statement.
"Only God knows how much time each of us have on this Earth— make the most of it, and leave it better than you found it," he added.
WBRZ is planning a celebration of Chris' work in the weeks to come as he looks to his future.
"Chris and his team are an important part of the lineage of journalism in Baton Rouge. We are honored for the work he has done and appreciate the wrongs he has helped to right," General Manager Trey Schmaltz said Friday.

He should have put a flame thrower to Broome. He wouldn't.

I’m about 2 years from dragging up at work unless I get a specific job, which I’m putting in the work to get. If I don’t get it there won’t be no goodbyes and parties. Just click the “resign” button on workday and disappear. They’ll have 3 weeks to figure it out.
Good luck Chris.
Good luck Chris.

Never had the nerves to mess with the real power brokers of Baton Rouge

Man, that sucks. I'm Texan but have enjoyed watching him being posted here owning some issues over these many years.

But will the national news allow him to keep his sunglasses on his head when he is doing a hard hitting interview?

Missing petty cash drawer of $350 or less at the Addis city hall - Nakamoto was on it like flies on shite. Something like the Allie Rice murder, gangs in BR or judges not sentencing BR repeat felons - Nakamoto silence of the lambs.

Journalism has such a high opinion of itself.
A “celebration” of his past work?Really?
Dude leaving for another job and they choose to “celebrate” his past work?

That gust of wind was the sigh of relief from all of the small towns around Baton Rouge. I hope Nakamoto isn't going to a larger market, he's nothinv without small town dysfunction to go after.

He’s always creeped me out

Even the largest cities are surrounded by smaller communities. He’ll have plenty of low hanging fruit to pursue.
I don’t want to hate too much, because at least he contributed something. Baton Rouge and Louisiana are filled with “journalists” that contribute nothing.

Corrupt Louisiana leaders with a sigh of relief

This exactly...
Good guy... but he would not touch anything that would make the Mayor or Police Chief of Broometown look bad..
While on the other hand, with lesser shite, he was a bulldog.
Good luck Chris...Channel 2 news has become a dumpster fire anyway...RUN.

That's the fault of station management. I remember one journalist that was trying to take a pretty big swing at BRPD. She was sent to the unemployment line.

He should come investigate Goddard Kansas (“suburb” of Wichita). That’d hold him over for a couple years.
