Why are you thinking of all that racist stuff

That has nothing in common with this

Why is it in your head

No. Your perception is not my reality and my rights do not end where your offense begins, bub.

Oh, I wasn't aware that black kids are inherrintly angry and hate life.

I guess only white kids can be happy go lucky. #whiteprivilege

I could see where you would think piccaninny art with the black kid eating a watermelon would be offensive. That I do get. But for the life of me, I can't see anything offensive or racist about this particular poster.
I hate how we're becoming such a pussified country. If something offends somebody it has to be taken down and done away with. Oh and with an apology

Those are better posters than the one in the OP. They do not have animal like heads at all.

I'm offended by the term "colored people". We should protest the name NAACP IMO.

I don't blame the NAACP. I blame the festival for caving in, just as I blame the corporations who give in to activist demands.

Ignore them.

I remember the great Artis Cash threat to organize a "hip hop boycott" of the Boardwalk in Bossier City because their dress code was biased against hip hop dress.

Ok - hip hop will boycott a place that doesn't want them. This will work out well.

This must be the first time I have ever agreed with you. At first glance I thought the artist must be an idiot to think this was a good idea.

Perhaps black people should be happy that they were going to be recognized AND perhaps some black people are a bit too sensitive, THIS picture is much too close to a line that has been drawn. It was a dumb idea.

Ponder this!

If our President had two children that age and gender, they'd look like the poster children.

Kalle isn't doing the jazz fest poster, but he did get a booth this year. With all this free pub, this could be the best thing ever for him.
1. Paint possibly racist picture
2. Convince idiot Kiwanis club it is awesome.
3. Get the naacp to boycott
4. Sell paintings at jazz fest
5. Profit
The system has been completed. Kudos Mr. Kalle!

This. Unfortunately. There was a time when I wouldn't ever consider leaving the USA. Now about once every other week I'm researching some other country.

My needs are basic.

Must have access to ESPN.
Must have quality internet connection.
Must have a beach.
Must not have high butthurt factor.
Cannot be communist.
Tax structure must be reasonable.

That's really all I'm asking.

Explain what you mean by "happy that it's recognized."

Very dumb idea on the festivals committee to not screen this.

Ultimately, it's just bad publicity for an otherwise great cultural event. We (louisiana) are in the news some something backwards..again.

well here is the thing

these sorts of pictures are common. i don't know the style, but it's a part of our culture. just look at any jazz fest poster

this artist has a history of painting in that style

now, the lips were a foolish inclusion. if the picture didn't have the lips, i doubt there is an outrage

I've been saying from the get-go that I thought it looked like folk art. I saw nothing wrong with it because my mind doesn't even drift into a sphere of racism.

It does, however, drift into the area of art and art appreciation, tradition and history. The fact that it is in the style of a local artist only adds to the aforementioned.

I guess the point is - I'm not racist nor was I looking for racism. I saw the poster for what it was - Art in a style with which I was familiar.

Sorry you are so close-minded.
