Well, I would not want to open ANY business in that God-Foresaken city, how about that?

Why post the first 2 paragraphs and not the clickbait part?

Not so fast.

And Gov officials wonder why they are so despised. This kind of garbage is what kills commerce.

I take it you aren’t familiar with the OP’s work.

As long as you're strapped and ready to deal with the vermin, go for it. New Orleans is literally a battlefield right now.

“So, You Want To Open A Restaurant On Magazine Street In New Orleans - Not So Fast“

You probably shouldn’t. You and your patrons are likely to get held up, robbed, mugged, and have your car stolen too regularly. New Orleans deserves every bit of this.

At least it looks like there are definitions and fair warning about how the process might screw you

Greg Sonnier and his wife brought a place somewhere uptown that I think was a restaurant and spent a ton of money fixing it up to open as their own.
Neighbors didn’t want it and threw a huge hissy fit and due to some technicalities in the zoning, they couldn’t ever open.
I think they ended up using it as a catering place or occasional reception hall or something, but eventually sold it

There are still residential areas on Magazine as well as the areas by the schools that seem to restrict alcohol.

Not sure this should be a surprise to anyone.

As someone who has opened 6 restaurants of their own . They probably did you a favor. Take all the money you would have put in and go to the casino and pick black or red. A far better chance to see any of it again.

Dumb article. News flash, zoning and land use regulations exist.

Lol, I used to tell people to just take the money and light it on fire. Same result.

This.

This article really applies to someone naive enough to believe they could do it alone or on the merits.

Hire Mike Sherman and he can get you a permit to build a private airport on Magazine Street.
