None of this shite was an issue in 2019

What’s the benefit of levelized billing? I don’t get that option in the PNW.

They average your bill over the previous 12 months and you pay that amount. So your bill is roughly the same every month. It fluctuates some but usually like $10-15
It doesn't save you any money but it makes budgeting easier.

2600 sq feet. We’ve had two years straight of paying GA Power $400ish during August/September.
Before that, above $300 was the what I’d consider “high”.

So you'd rather just pay more all the tome rather than only when prices are high?
Makes no sense

So if you moved into a new house in BR, I assume Entergy or Demco leverages historical data on what the previous homeowner paid monthly if you opt for levelized billing?

That would be my guess, but personally I don't see the benefit of levelized billing. If a few hundred dollar variation month to month would blow up my budget, seems like I'd be better off keeping an eye on my consumption and seeing that reduction immediately, right? Or I think at least I would prefer to budget a bit above my average and put that into an account under my control each month and pay the bill out of that.

Yall are cheaper right now by a wide margin.

Does anybody have solar? What's the offset? Is it true that they will pay you for putting power into the system or something like that?

Because the less you use, the more they charge per KWH. Been keeping track of it via a spreadsheet for years. They won’t allow you to pay less by using less.

How this is done varies by power company, and there are likely a bunch of terms and conditions that frick you over in one way or another.

I’m in Massachusetts and they just announced that our supplier, National Grid, is raising their electricity rates by **60%**

I had one sky high bill. Next was a little higher than normal. Then back to normal.

Idk what y'all are doing to run up your bills so high. Mine is $180 for a 2000Sqft house with the AC at 68° all night. Mine has never been over $250.

It wouldn't blow my budget up but I much prefer knowing about how much my utility bill is each month rather than it being some sort of grab bag surprise.
