I have multiple dogs.
To me, it softens the blow of the death of a pet by having or getting another pet.

Feeling your pain. Our Ruby Cavalier was attacked by a coyote last Wednesday. Our Morky (maltese/yorky mix) bolted outside to protect him, but instead wound up being taken by the coyote into the woods across the golf course behind our house. He had been attacked by a coyote a few years ago and I guess he wanted revenge. Our Cavalier is recovering, but missing his hero.

I have another one but Knucklehead is going to be happy to have the place to himself again. Those two weren't happy unless they were antagonizing each other.

That's tough I'm sorry. I had to have my dog of 15 plus years put to sleep two weeks ago. I hated it and hate it for you as well.
