Run vinegar in it, and in the jet dry thing. If that doesn't help check out the air gap. You may have water running from the sink/garbage disposal into the dishwasher.

Next time you run it, add vinegar.

You shite is broke!! Run some pipe cleaner stuff through it without a full load.
Left town for two weeks and came back and the sink/dishwasher was backed up. HUGE PINTA
Boiled 2 big "gumbo" pots and poured them in the drain. Then at night poured two "plumbers in the bottle"

I have the same issue with mine. If it goes 4-5 days without running it just has a horrible smell.
About monthly we run a dishwasher cleaner thing in it and thats helps a little but nothing fixes it long term

It may be how it was installed. I had a similar problem with it not draining and smelling terrible and today I had a guy come out make a minor adjustment and good as new.

Look under your sink. The drain hose needs to be higher then The garbage disposal if that's where it's hooked up to. If not get a wire tie and tie it up higher so the garbage disposal water doesn't run back into the dishwasher

No this will etch glasses and china
Run a cycle with Vinegar only then run a cycle with dishwasher soap only
If it still smells remove the bottom wand and clean that area out
then look at the drains

This. Just moved into a house and the dishwasher made me want to puke. Turns out dishwasher drain line was below garbage disposal.

Pour some Vinegar in it and run a cycle with it empty.

This. I remember changing a dishwasher out in a flip house I had bought and undoing the drain house. shite still left in the hose slung all over me and it made me throw up the smell was so bad. It was in the middle of August too and there was no power in the house yet so the heat amplified everything.

Use a steel brush to clean the inside for any soap scum. Quit using heated dry. Problem solved. The fish smell comes from the stuff getting warmed up and baked in there.
