I'm glad you have hospice to assist you. It truly is the one healthcare group that is worth the price paid. It is a hard situation and I hope you're able to spend quality time with him.

I don't post here often, I am an admitted lurker...but for all of you out there, just know that you only get one mother and one father.

Regardless of what your relationship with either of them may be, it can never be replaced and should be cherished.

Avoid having regrets at all cost.

My Dad went on Hospice last week. He signed the papers himself. The decline has been hard on everyone. I know how you feel.

My dad passed away in December at the age of 50. He was my best friend and the biggest LSU fan I've ever known. He was a poster on Tigerbait since 2003 under the name "abellsu".(that's where I got "abellsujr", I would check in under his account now and then) He knew every player, number, and ranking out of high school. We talked literally DAILY about LSU. Sometimes we agreed , sometimes we didn't, but he was just as passionate about LSU as I was. Since then, it hasn't been easy for me to talk about sports with anyone, not my brothers or anyone else. Until I started posting on this site. It's great to find people just as passionate about the tigers as he was and I am. Eventually my wife will let me spend the money and get a tigerbait account, but I might not get one, I like this one better.

I wrote this within the first few months of my fathers death.I understand what you're going through and I'll always be hear for you, man.

You're right. I didn't have a close relationship with my Dad but I did with my Mom. The passing of my Dad hit me harder than loosing my Mom because there was so much unresolved crap between us.

I just wish mine would have been around long enough to have that option. Mom died when I was 18 and dad died when I was 41.

The thread about the six 21 year-olds wanting something to do - I wanted to say go home and visit your folks but I didn't want to be crucified for being sentimental.

Sorry for your grief. Lost mine when I was 12, what time we had together I'll never forget even though they were few. My mother is still alive at 89, but has alzheimers. Shes still rocking though even if there is hardly any communication. I can look her in the eyes and she me and we can talk to each other this way. Nothing like a dad though.

I agree. Luckily, I had the opportunity to speak with him during one of his lucid moments, which are becoming less frequent.

Lost my father 3 weeks ago, worst day of my life. Spend every minute you can with him, and let him know how much he means to you. My prayers go out to you and your family.
