My dad was just wheeled back for open heart surgery - UPDATED OP #2

He had a heart attack on Thursday. He's having a quad bypass. Prayers appreciated.
Update: They are closing him up now. So far, he is doing well.
Upsate 2: He made it out of surgery. Thanks to all for the prayers. I know he's not out of the woods yet but he made it so far and that's a relief.

Scary times, the first time I saw my pop after his quad bypass about 16 years ago, he was grey and cold. So scary looking. He pulled through just fine and came over yesterday with my brother and we spent the afternoon boiling crawfish (with dad supervising of course).

Yep, any type of heart work these days is second nature for those guys, no worries. It’s the brain and nervous system that really need medical breakthrus

Prayers. My mom had bypass in 93 and she has been fine since. Just prepare yourself that he will look horrible the first time you see him in icu but you’ll be amazed how fast the recovery is.

best of luck man - my dad has had a quad, my mom triple and my neighbor just had quad as well - all 3 are doing fantastic, no reason to believe your dad wont crush the recovery (in the best way possible)

Watching them cough for the couple days immediately following the surgery was the most difficult part for me. Make sure he has a pillow and uses it when coughing.
