God I will miss that. He donated his body to LSU for science. Has anyone had any experience with donation?

I'm a med student who goes to LSU and I can't say anything but thank you to your father for his selfless contribution to the future. Without wonderful individuals like himself we wouldn't have the benefit of truly learning the human anatomy as it should be learned. He is benefitting those he never met or knew, and for that all med students and faculty are extremely grateful. He will absolutely be treated with the upmost respect. I'm sorry for your loss but it is obvious you come from good stock!

As an aside, at the end of the semester we have our cadaver ceremony. It's a really emotional event where we thank those who donated their bodies and tell stories of how we connected with those generous souls who taught us so much even after their passing. We get a card with their age, profession, and cause of death. By the end of the semester, and especially after getting that card, it is very hard to say goodbye.

I'm sorry for your loss, but it's obvious without even meeting him that your dad was an incredible man.

Prayers sent. Lost my dad when I was 17. He also donated his body to LSU for science. Didn't get the remains back for quite some time, close to 3 years. Not sure about others experience but I know it's what he wanted. Miss him everyday but the sun still comes up.

He will help in the training of future doctors who, in turn, will save lives. It is a noble action to take.

I don't have that.

So, my hope is that my kids will miss me this way.

Poly, me sincerest condolences.

And fear not, 86 is a heck of a good run! I lost mine at 50.

I know the feeling, it's the worst. 86 is a GREAT run though...it's almost 40 years longer than my father made it.

Sorry for your loss, Polycarp. Your Dad lived a long life if that is some comfort. I'm glad you and he had a good relationship.

The strange part about your dads passing is that you will feel his presence from time to time. You will notice things to let you know he is with you.
Every tear shed will be an absolute tribute to the man.

Prayers for you and your family.

Sorry for your loss. Lost mine when I was 12. Still remember him sitting in front of the victrolla listening to LSU on the radio, with a drink in one hand and a cig in the other, cussing ole Cholly Mac to no end. Good times while it lasted.
