One of my family members had a residential construction company for 40 years and that's BS. The lumber company won't let him take the product on credit is the real issue.

Not familiar with LA laws but I would bet the farm that he has a history of slow payment.

And in construction if he stands out then it is probably taking him 6-9 months to pay his invoices

If you are stuck with the builder than pay the lumber company directly and deduct it from builders invoice.

Yep, you hired a POS and the supplier knows it.

If you let this go in, there will be many more issues.

Tell him you'll sign, but he doesn't get to Mark up that amount you sign for. I mean, if your gonna but it yourself, it shouldn't be included

Sounds like you have a builder that doesn't pay his bills. I would get him to sign an affidavit stating that all bills are paid prior to giving him a draw. That's pretty commonplace.

No, I think he means with builder. You could monitor checking, deposit there, and also write checks to supplier if needed.
Builders in trouble use one job's funds for other job's bills. You would be able to see that if so.
