Every person I see "honoring" him on social media is doing so by posting his quotes and videos regarding race. Seems he wasn't shy at all about bashing the white man for what they did to my people 150 years ago.

He seemed to have been proud of his racism. I was never a fan of his sport so I never really followed him, thus, just now learned this side of him since his death.

This isn't really a question as much as it's an observation. It's embarrassing to me as a black woman to see such an iconic person allow my entire race to be judged as a whole because of his and others' words.

It was Muhammad Ali. He could say what he wanted.

Yeah he was a big racist. Why you think he's getting so much media coverage?

I agree with your post, good luck with the replies though. You've been around for a while you know what I mean.

My grandmother was pretty racist.

Something about that generation.

At a certain point he was an angry black Muslim and he was outspoken in his hatred of the "white devils." He was one of those types that thought all white people were evil. He admitted this view was misguided in his later years and said that evil is not race dependent and neither is good. People learn and change. Thus is life.

You're 44 and never knew about all the things Ali said and did? That's crazy to me.

don't understand why that's something you'd cling to, I think that helps keep racism to the forefront, I'm a mongrel and I don't rush to my Heinz 57 menu every time I read , see, or hear something to see whether or not I'm offended by it

Ali was a first generation SJW Idol. That's pretty much all you need to know about him outside of the ring.

This happens with every race though. People love conflict.

He mellowed quite a bit as he got older, and even when he was saying stuff like that, he freely associated with whites, including jews, both personally and professionally.
