It's a crappy airport. If it is one of the best, this nation must have some horrible airports.

Not much competition, when you have airports the size of the entire city of New Orleans like O’Hare, Hartsfield,
Denver, LaGuardia, JFK, and LAX that make the flying experience like herding cows to slaughter.

You ever tried to get your luggage from baggage claim in less than an hour OR catch the bus to the rental car terminal...?
Pack a lunch to do either....MSY sucks.

Or fly American where MSY has put them far enough in the back of the airport that a Sherpa is necessary.

Hobby is very nice as is San Diego (SAN). If you have the ability to get into a Cap One lounge, those are very nice and limits the mouth breathers and pj-wearing folks that smell like mushrooms usually.

The smaller size makes it easy to get in and out.
I flew into Tampa a few weeks ago and it took me over an hour to get off my flight, collect my bags, and get to the rental car terminal.
I do like the TSA check points for every terminal, and not just one massive one for the entire airport at TPA.
