He's been doing a good job in Mississippi. Better than I thought he would.

If JBE goes along with the 6 week lockdown nonsense that Biden's camp is talking about, the GOP legislature must impeach and remove him from office.

I don’t know if they have that authority.

Recall is the correct option.

They do have that authority. And they must use it if JBE continues to abuse his powers and act like a petty tyrant.

quote:

§24. Impeachment

Section 24.(A) Persons Liable. A state or district official, whether elected or appointed, shall be liable to impeachment for commission or conviction, during his term of office of a felony or for malfeasance or gross misconduct while in such office.

(B) Procedure. Impeachment shall be by the House of Representatives and trial by the Senate, with senators under oath or affirmation for the trial. The concurrence of two-thirds of the elected senators shall be necessary to convict. The Senate may try an impeachment whether or not the House is in session and may adjourn when it deems proper. Conviction upon impeachment shall result in immediate removal from office. Nothing herein shall prevent other action, prosecution, or punishment authorized by law.

While I’m glad he’s SAYING this now he also said the issue of removing the Confederate flag should be voted on by the people them a couple weeks later signed the legislation that allowed it to be removed (FTR, I don’t really care about the flag but it should have been up to the voters)

It’s sort of impressive what Taters has done. He has managed to piss off the right and his base with mask mandates and too lengthy restrictions and of course he never could implement enough restrictions to satisfy the left so now there’s really no one left who will vote for him. He wasn’t all that popular to begin with so I can’t imagine he will fair very well during the next primary unless the RNC can manage to keep any serious challengers away

Anyways I suspect these issues are what this press conference was about, trying to beg back his base but either way I don’t trust him

what we’re seeing with the dominion software in the presidential elections makes me wonder if honor code here didn’t get China to switch some votes for him. He’s played awfully nice into the narrative.

To be fair this MS governor is just talking noise at this point. He very well may go through with what he's saying but for now it's just rhetoric and chest pumping.

I'm thinking that because no matter who is in charge they are going to mess up as this is Louisiana politics. Easier to be the one constantly bashing and fighting with the one who is most responsible than to be that person and have others doing it to you.

IDK what the big deal is. If shutting down would be so bad for the economy, wouldn't that be a good way to wreck biden's presidency?

Unlike prog filth, patriots understand that if you want the captain of the plane to die, the plane goes down too.

You people with your gotcha attempts.

Also, he's not even president elect... he's sniffed alot of kids but I doubt he sniffs the presidency.

Personally, I'd kind of like a strong economy where me, my family and my friends and everyone else that wants to earn an honest day's living can go to work or operate their businesses and make a good living. I'd like America to flourish.

Unlike Democrats, I don't want the country to tank just so my candidate can be elected President.

There isn't any way an impeachment goes through if he is simply following the guidance of the President of the United States Of America.....you people get your damn hopes up on this shite.

No legal challenge of his EOs will go through in this state....the legislature will never pass any real legislation to limit his power. It simply won't happen.

This whole recall shite isn't gonna fly because even if he is recalled his arse will be elected again....that's if he can't get his judge buddies to shoot down the recall in court (which I'd say is likely).

Just be pissed at the Rs that got him elected...twice....and make sure we do better in the next election.

ETA The only hope is that the people will stand up to him and not live by his lockdown....we have seen some small evidence of this in smaller communities...I have hope that that will continue and maybe even grow if he institutes a lockdown again. It is helluva lot more productive than anything the legislature will do.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - In a press conference on Thursday, Gov. Tate Reeves said Mississippi would not participate in a nationwide lockdown if one is mandated by President-elect Joe Biden. He said that while the election results have yet to be determined, the state would not shut down its economy again, even if mandated by the federal government. “We are not going to participate in a nationwide lockdown,” he said, adding that closing the economy for six weeks would be “totally and completely beyond reasonableness.”

Sounds good on paper, not going to happen in the real.

Biden is going to offer trillions of dollars in CARES 2.0. He will withhold that money from states that don't participate in lockdowns and mask mandates.

At that point governors will concede. It would be nice to see a governor stand on principle and reject the CARES money, but don't count on it.

Nobody thinks government mandated lockdowns and masks are bullshite more than me, but its going to be a reality.

Mask mandates aren't the same as forcing businesses to close and putting the state into lockdown mode.
