Hey update. The wife and I will be moving to Tampa instead of Orlando. We've been looking for apartments but not sure which one we should choose. She's a nurse and will work at the Florida hospital. I work in construction so I will be looking for work myself. If anyone lives there which apartments and areas would you recommend?

Also places to avoid.

Hillsborough County

I'd suggest these areas.

1. Ballast Point
2. Seminole Heights
3.Hunter's Green area
4.Carrollwood
5. Brandon

Now I've never been to Tampa, so if you get robbed, don't blame me.

The other side of the bridge. Tampa is donkey shite.

ETA: But seriously if you don't mind going over the Howard Frankland live in St. Pete otherwise I'd stick to the outskirts either NW or south of the expressway towards Brandon. There are some rough/trashy neighborhoods scattered around Dale Mabry and east toward Temple Terrace/I4 interchange

South Tampa/Hyde Park area good option if you like living near eateries, shopping and clubs with plenty of YPs. Some nice older residential streets off Bay to Bay Blvd. The Post Hyde Pk apts good choice in Hyde Park part of So. Tampa. Bay shore Blvd. is pricey but great location. Check it out. Our 2 daughters lived in that area, and my wife's cousin. If we were going to move from Bradenton to Tampa, So. Tampa would be our #1 target neighborhood. Good luck!
PS - Brandon area is east of I-75 and has a giant mall and super heavy traffic around it. Our daughter and hubby lived there after SoTampa. Didn't like. Moved to Dallas. Just like a big suburb anywhere.

I lived in the post complex on harbor island for a few years and had a great time living downtown across the bridge from channelside.

You have no idea but this is the equivalent of winning the lottery. I used to work in Orlando and Tampa is much better.

As far as where to live: east of Tampa (Riverview/Brandon area) is easiest commute to anywhere and has virtually anything you'll need on a daily basis. North of Tampa is worst commute to anywhere. West of Tampa compute is OK but it's St. Pete so you'll have to like the "beach life". There isn't a lot "South of Tampa" and what there is, is expensive as shite.

Congratulations. I lived in Tampa for a few years and it was by far the best city that I've lived in.

Your wife will love working for FLorida Hospital. They are very high quality hospital system and employer. My wife's medical group is associated with them.

South Tampa is a great place to live in if you can afford it. It is a really fun lifestyle down there. Carrollwood is now an older community and I don't now how well it has held up over the years.

New Tampa is just that. It wasn't there when I lived there. I hear that traffic is a serious problem getting into town from there.

Brandon is the burbs and has a significant commute to Tampa. Less expensive.

Pinellas county, Clearwater, St Pete, Etc. Are great but, you have to commute across the bay. Very bad traffic.

Good luck and enjoy.

Not really; they built a toll road specifically for the Brandon/Riverview area so commute is really easy.

Get an apartment or duplex in the Old NE St Pete if you need multi family.
