Moulton Middle School teacher arrested for sex act with LCHS student

Lawrence County Sheriff's Investigators have charged a Moulton Middle School teacher with engaging in a sexual act with a student, Sheriff Gene Mitchell said.
Taylor Brooks Boyles, 27, of 5216 County Road 87, Moulton, was charged with the offense of school employee engaging in a sex act or deviant sexual intercourse with a student under the age of 19. The offense is a class B felony.

Mitchell said the arrest came on Monday afternoon after investigators, along with the assistance of the Moulton Police Department and the Lawrence County Board of Education received information that Boyles had been engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with a Lawrence County High School student.

After learning of the possible illegal contact, board of education staff members contacted law enforcement and the investigation began.

Mitchell said Boyles turned herself in at the Lawrence County Jail shortly after noon Monday. She was released shortly afterwards after posting a $10,000 bail.
Lawrence County Superintendent Jon Bret Smith said Boyles has been put on administrative leave pending further school board action.

Smith also said none of the alleged acts occurred on a school campus, and at no time was any student in danger on a Lawrence County school campus.

Boyles married in May 2015, but filed for divorce in February 2017, writing in her complaint that “this marriage was a mistake” and “the love had gone out of” her relationship with her husband, the Decatur Daily reported.

Her divorce was approved April 11, a little over a month before her arrest.

Boyles was released from Lawrence County Jail on $10,000 bond.
