Most pain you experienced at the dentist?

I cracked my back molar recently and had to get a crown. Luckily it didn't need a root canal, just a crown. My dentist wanted to use a metal crown since it is my back molar and didn't want it to break. I had my temp crown, etc, and when I went back in for my permanent crown, he told me there be no reason to numb it since the crown was a good fit. What I didn't realize was the temperature of the metal crown was -1000 deg, and my tooth was live (no root canal, nerves of the tooth near the surface due to the crown). When he stuck that freezing cold crown on that live nerve, I thought I was going to pass out.

When the pretty hygienist with big boobies sees my weird boner and tells me it's not going to happen.

Was the day before... Bit down on a sharp piece of ice on an exposed nerve. Worst pain I have ever felt. I nearly passed out. I was like a kid going to Disney World when I was on the way to the dentist the next day. I couldn't wait for that fricker to open

Something similar
My exposed nerve on my back molar had to be dry for the adhesive to work with the crown. The dentist had to shoot that air gun on the nerve for a few seconds before placing the molar on. He was lying when he told me it might hurt a bit.

Needed a root canal. Dude numbed what he needed to and gave it ~25 minutes to fully set in. All was fine when he first started but apparently he didn't give me enough numbing shite and when we both found out...mother of god. It felt like he stuck an ice pick down through my jaw. Well, that's sorta what happened.

Was having a few cavities filled and the anesthesia wore off about 3/4 of the way through. I said f- it...finish it....bad move.

I was sitting in the dentist office when I got a call from my dad informing me that my uncle aged 48 passed away from a blood clot.

Getting a cavity filled when you havent had enough numbing medication. Getting a nerve drilled on is not a joke.

Well this has taken a morbid turn

I got kicked in the nuts around 10 years old.

Got cavities filled by two inexperienced girls who had no clue as to what they were doing. They had to drill for 30 mins and the local anesthetic wore off halfway through and they had to keep drilling more and more. They even accidentally drilled my gum somehow.
I actually shed tears during it and they basically told me to suck it up.
Needless to say I don't go there anymore.

Probably not nearly as bad as some other stories on here, but when I was getting my braces put on as a teenager, they mis-measured the size of the band (not sure exactly what it's called) that goes around the back tooth on each side of the mouth. It was too small, and hurt like hell trying to fit it on. After about 10 minutes of trying to squeeze it on, the assistant laughs and says to the orthodontist, "Well, at least we know he has a high pain tolerance."

Not really a pain story but I did have to get local anesthesia for a tooth pull a few years back. I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and my lip was swollen like a golfball for two days.

Was having a root canal done. Dentist numbed the tooth and started drilling. Turns out the anatomy of that particular tooth was all bassackwards so it wasn't numbed. Dentist tries to numb it twice more and still nothing. He looks at me and tells me, "I've already started and can't stop. I've got no choice. Hold on." He proceeds to cut the top of the tooth off and numb the nerve directly. I bent both armrests on his chair.
Also broke a tooth while working offshore once. Spent every moment of the last two days when not working on deck banging my head against a metal door to distract myself from the pain.
My childhood dentist was a sadist. He talked my parents into letting him take out my wisdom teeth. Numbed all four quadrants and proceeds to spend an hour cutting and pulling on the first tooth. Starts cutting on the second and I was no longer numb and I told him so. He accused me of lying to him and kept cutting so I grabbed him by his junk and lifted him out of his chair. Somewhere along the way his assistant noted the time. He thought it was funny.

Pain so bad from abscessed tooth that tears flowed down my face as Imwaited for the novocaine shots. No outward crying just a waterfall as I clenched. Root canal performed. Abscessed again overnight and lanced the next day. That 2 day period was areal bitch since I cannot take pain killers without horrible adverse reactions. Tylenol was the only thing I could take. Horry Chit!

When I was a kid and had to get some teeth pulled because they were growing in too crooked. The dentist didn't use enough novicaine and I felt everything. I haven't been to a dentist in years because of that.

Yes, that about sums up what I was going through my mind at the time.
