Appears that that was a Marine Iguana, which means it's the Galapagos Islands. No need to wreck those islands anymore than we already have.

The snakes do this every year. They know the precise time iguana eggs will hatch and they simply hide in the rocks and wait for the iguanas to emerge from the sand. That time of year is the best time of year for those snakes to feed.
