Fifth circuit rules all appeals have to be exhausted before action can be taken. This will drag on for a while. LINK

Good. The more city money spent on this, the better.

Once this idiocy is finally snuffed out, the statue should be turned a few degrees to face City Hall.

Face city hall? It should be placed on the top of city hall.

At the very least, this should delay the removal more than long enough for the legislature to pass the bill that would prevent removal forever. Of course, Jon Bel is definitely a hurdle.

Honestly, I don't care about any of these statues, except for Lee. He was a great man by anyone's standards, hated slavery, tried to prevent the war and fought in it because his only other option was to go to war against his family, friends and neighbors.

Also, the removal movement is only a gut reaction to a single incident combined with bitter, pandering black politicians who just want to piss off white people. The issue is causing more racism and resentment on both sides, not preventing it.

John Bel will be a hurdle because he already cut a deal with John Cummings to stay out of the controversy. Cummings is the money behind this as he wants to use his property in News Orleans East as a park for the monuments once they are moved. Of course he would get paid for this. Cummings recently renovated a Plantation and made it into a museum dedicated to slavery. Go figure , would think he had enough money by now.

Edwards and Cummings... a couple of Grade-A sleazeballs.

He also once owned the land where Arlington National Cemetery is located.

Lafayette Advertiser right on cue with a spin piece.

Removal of Confederate symbols turns nasty in New Orleans

No "nasty" news to report. A judge made a ruling (which isn't even mentioned in the article), but someone over there seemed obliged to write this.

JBE has already taken steps, through Alario in the Senate, to keep the bill from reaching the floor for a vote. Alario assigned the bill to a committee that 1) has nothing to do with anything remotely involved in this kind of issue & 2) is chaired by a black New Orleans legislator who is "passionately" for removing the monuments. The bill will never see the light of day.

But....They said that if the statues were removed, then they wouldn't be so angry! If they're not angry then they would stop killing each other!
