I just sold my house and about to start shopping for a new home. I need to find a place that I can rent month to month until I find that new home. Not familiar with the apartment scene in baton rouge. What are some good complexes to look at in BR? I would like to keep it under $1000 a month.

Month to month under $1,000 is going to be tough. Go to a restaurant or bookstore and pick up one of those little Apartment Guide things at the entrance.

It looks like both "Plan A" and "Plan B" are in your budget at El Cid.

Any decent place is gonna have a 6 month lease to start. The only places that would do month to month are probably ghetto.

Going to be hard to find in Baton Rouge for that price. The flood displaced a lot of people and I think most folks that own rental housing are not having much trouble getting tenants.

I highly doubt you find anywhere decent on month to month. Id put aside some money for a hotel room and a storage unit

I'd bite the bullet and get a 6 month lease at either a nicer complex or one of the newer places downtown. It will take a while to find a home, close on it, and move in anyways. If it takes longer than 6 months, they might let you extend your lease by 30 or 60 days if you've been with them for that long.

Good luck! Rentals are scarce and folks really jacked up the rent a day after the flood.

Not many people are buying homes now, just renting.

The Bluebonnet Towers at the Swaggert complex offers month to month unfurnished for $600. 2 dorm style rooms and full bath.

What are these new apartments downtown? I looked online and only found 438 street apartments.

That's not true. But any place that's going to do month to month under $1000 isn't going to be desirable.

We were in a similar situation and looked at the Reserve at Cedar Lodge...they were about $2400/mo.

Not necessarily. We tried to buy three times in our desired area in BR and lost out on all three offers because ours was contingent on the sale of our current home. The cycle was going to continue.
