Going to be in Monroe for a while working during the week, I've already scoped out a golf course and there's an Applebee's by my hotel...

Heard the waterfront grill is good, what else? Any cool bars close to the mall? Strip clubs?

Lot's of culcha in that Applebee's...

You're time will be better spent working on your game in the afternoons @ Chennault.

Closest venue for "entertainment" is about 45 minutes east.

Waterfront Grill is good. So is The Warehouse, Cascio's, and Genusa's. Not too many bars near the mall, but there is a pretty good hibachi grill over there. Check out the Chennault Air Museum while you're in town. It's a couple of miles from you. Not sure about strip clubs, or even the bar scene anymore. It's been a while since I've lived there. Whatever you do...don't go south of I-20, unless you want to die

Literally nothing. It's why I didn't want to suffer there for pharmacy school

Lived there for years and tried to offer my opinion on a thread like this, which incited the wrath of the locals.... so I'll just repeat someone else's sound advice...

The new place above Cotton has a nice patio outside. Service isn't 4 stars, but the mule's are good.

I'm a recent transplant to West Monroe and I haven't found much here to do. I ate at Romas the other night, which was delicious Italian food and heard great things about Cotton but haven't made it there yet. Good luck finding something to do and let me know what you find. One day, I plan to drive to Vicksburg to visit the Civil Wat battleground but that's about all I know of.

Courtyard Mariott by the Mall? I have gotten hammered at that Applebees.

Enochs is a great Irish Pub with great burgers.

When the wind shifts a little you can smell the lovely aroma of the paper mill which will sometimes fuse with the smell coming off of the landfill. I spend a good amount of time in West Monroe for work and I am glad I am worn out from work because there isn't much going on in the town but the traffic is still terrible.

I can find better deals at the Academy there than the one near my house.

Just got back from West Monroe.

The crime is getting out of control in Monroe. They had a shooting outside that mall and then another dindu pulled a gun on some people inside the mall. That all happened within the last month.

You should check out SQ's. It's right on the river, good drinks, and you'll see plenty of women.

Godspeed sir

The area is better for outdoor activities. Check out the state parks: D'arbonne, Jimmie Davis, and Chemin-a-Hault. Kiroli and Lincoln Parks are nice places and there is another park between Well Road and Downing Pines. The museums in Monroe are pretty good. There is the Bry Art Gallery on South Grand and the Chennault Air Museum on Lamy Lane. Lazarre Point and Forsythe Park are good places too

I've noticed that Live Oak Ballroom has some decent live music every once in a while.

Cotton, or Sage for dinner

Daily Press for a quick lunch or breakfast. They also have awesome coffee. It is an instant French Press, very legit stuff.

only south of 20. Monroe is a pretty sleepy Baptist community

It was full this time so I'm at residence inn. Stayed there last time though, but this trip is longer, like a month.

I did get the driving range pass deal at Chennault, course looks horrible but I can at least hit some balls.
