Story

An Oklahoma mom has decided to give birth to her terminally ill daughter so that she can donate the newborn’s organs.

Keri Young, from Oklahoma City, was devastated to discover that her baby, who she named Eva, would be born without a portion of her brain and skull due to a condition known as anencephaly.

Keri – who learned of the child’s fate during her 20-week ultrasound – is scheduled to give birth to her child on May 7 and will likely only spend a few days with the newborn before she dies.

Damn. I don't really have an opinion other than to be sad for everyone involved.

I'll be back.

I'm going to hug my babies.

Thoughts and prayers to that Mom, her baby, and her family.

Her loss is giving others life. That's as selfless as it gets. I'm sorry for her loss, but she is an amazing woman...

It takes a lot of courage to know at 20 weeks that your child won't live long and still choose to carry the child so that other infants may have a chance at life. Organs for infants that young are hard to come by I'm sure.

Good for that mother.

I imagine you've said that a lot with regards to your own life.

Although I have my fair share of problems, I can't blame god for them. They are of my own accord.

Agree. She's going to go through the third trimester to save someone else's baby.

How is she an emotional cripple? Seems to me she is being emotionally mature. Gonna give birth and love that baby for as long as she can, then give sick infants a chance at life that her own child will never have.

She sounds like a wonderful person.

Would've been so easy to terminate. Bless this mother for the life that will taken and bless the lives that will be given Evas' organs
