the getaway car broke down and they grabbed the next car that came around. I wonder what crime the Explorer is tied to?

First mistake made was the woman stopped when they jumped in front of her car instead of driving through them.

Probably just some good citizens out for a stroll. They never did anything like this before. Good kids.

I think 609 Bonnabel is right where Big Lee's house is.

I first assumed someone stole Big Lee's little pink corvette when I saw all the cop cars.

It is. Big Lee is right around the corner.
Still this is a crazy crime.
I used to stop and help people. Especially if I saw people walking from a stalled car.

Maybe not anymore. I just have been helped every single time I needed help. But now they have those Allstate sponsored Motorist Assistance Patrol people.

And some posters wonder why some of us on the Southshore want to move to the Northshore. This is decently close to my house and just outside of the Old Metairie safe haven.

I met and talked to Big Lee once at a friends surprise Bday party. He seemed OK to me. Seemed like a nice guy.

I think this was a crime of opportunity and not one of geography. Like robbed because it was a nice area, or because they were in a bad area.

The people went from an explorer to a Cobalt. So it wasn't to jack a nice ride.
They were fleeing something. Probably heading to a place no where near that exit to lay low and had car issues.
Or just wanted a less conspicuous car. Though with how common the Explorer is, I think they blend in.

This to me wouldn't be the type of crime to scare someone from a neighborhood.

In general it is a sign of how the area is heading down hill.

Damn! That's a very quiet area. Hopefully this will spur some outrage and put pressure on JPSO to do something about the rising crime rate in East Jeff.

I disagree with that statement. A crime like this can happen anywhere.

I think one factor in the rising crime rate in EJ is a function of the ongoing gentrication of parts of New Orleans. The thugs have to go somewhere, some are going east and some are going to Metairie/ Kenner.

When I got divorced in 1995, I lived in an apartement on Pasadena and W. Napolean (before street was there, it was just the canal) and that area was pretty nice and safe. Now, if you go in that area after dark, its kind of scary.
