Metairie Academy or Catholic School?

My wife and I both went to Catholic schools in New Orleans, so we assumed both our kids would do the same. Our oldest is currently in PK-3 in a Metairie Catholic School, but we decided to test him for Metairie Academy to see if we even needed to talk. We received an acceptance letter with his test scores that ranks him in the 99th percentile. The complications are that my wife teaches at his current school and we do not know if his little brother will test high enough to go to Metairie Academy. We can't find anyone that has kids who went to Metairie Academy. We plan to talk to the principals at both schools. If he stays, then he might go to Christian Brothers later. If he goes, he'll probably continue through Haynes. Either way he will probably go to Jesuit over Patrick F Taylor for high school.
Talk us into one school or the other. What are some questions we need to focus on for our decision?
TL;DR: Metairie Academy or Catholic School? Why?

Lots and lots of HW in the charter school. I had a few friends who's kids went the charter school route and they continuously complained about the smount of HW.

keep him in the same school that your wife teaches at. it's really only high school that counts for shite anyway. don't stress now.

It's not a charter school. It's considered an advanced studies academy. They usually do not accept people testing out of the upper-90's. It's the top ranked elementary school in Louisiana. The average standardized test score is 96.64 (standardized testing, not admission testing) and only 13% qualify for free lunch.

Whatever. I know folks who's kids attend the school and they have way more HW than the Catholic schools.

I was hoping for someone with experience having to make up teaching religion at home because of having a kid at public school or finding more academic programs outside of school that would be fun if he stays. I remember UNO having a program that you had to test into that I loved and it started in kindergarten.

My son goes to to Airline Park (the other Advanced Studies Academy in Metairie.) I can tell you that the quality of education is not an issue. Both schools rank in the top 3 in the state for Elementary education. Great staff at both schools and involved parents. We feel ecstatic as our daughter has just tested in as well. That saves us about $6,000 a year for 13 years as the regular public schools here are not a choice.
For a free education in the New Orleans Metro area there is nothing that compares. Both Patrick Taylor and Haynes (middle and high schools for the advanced studies academies) have an average student ACT score of 29.
You sound like you have a tough choice as he as other alternatives. Just make the choice that feels right for your family. Me, I'd keep the cash in my pocket.

My personal opinion is that if you have a thought that your kid(s) will remain in NO for his/her career, then it may behoove you to get the kids into Catholic HS. If the child may leave NO, the Advanced Study System is the way to go. Just me.
I went to Catholic schools for my entire life, and I presently have 2 kids at Airline Park. I love it. And I am not referring to the money saved. That is a great byproduct.

Pretty elaborate, yet subtle, brag to let us know your 4 year old is in the 99th percentile.

If you're Catholic, most parishes have CCD classes on the weekend that you can send your kid to.
