I don't have a dog in this fight but isn't it well known that trump was flailing his arms up and down and then someone later took this freeze frame to make it look like he was directly making fun of that dude?

Nah. He flails right after he says "you gotta see this guy.." (I misquoted him in the previous post).

It was the second most important speech ever given by a Meryl. First was Merril Hoge's speech to a Midget Football league that turned out to just be a bunch of little kids.

I'm stealing this. Putting it on my Facebook. Claiming it's mine. There I said it, I will be plagiarizing you on MY book of faces.

Has the part of her speech regarding actors from other countries been discussed in this thread? I would assume (?) that Trump has no problems with actors working in the U.S. legally?

I'm also assuming that all of these actors are working here legally. Although it made me wonder since some of these roles may be anywhere from a week to a few months of filming their parts. If it's just a role that requires a couple of weeks, do they have the proper Visa or Green Card requirements? Obviously I'm not talking about the major stars but some of the others. It would be kind of funny if this speech brought attention to an area that was not always enforced but starts getting more focus.

When I visit European countries for work (not often, usually only for a week), I'm grilled by their Customs about what type of work I'm doing and how long I'm staying (since I don't have Visa, etc.).

Did she refer to Hollywood as the last bastion of truth in America ?

What? There is a time and place for that. No one wants to hear about politics during the golden globes.. At least I don't think. I don't really watch it, but if she has something to say, take to social media.. Not waste everyone else's time as if what she had to say was sooo important.

I disagreed with pretty much everything Streep said, But part of Free speech is that is that apart from causing a dangerous situation as stated by Schenck v. United States( yelling fire in a crowded theater) you cannot only not limit the what but the where and how and the why.

She was receiving a lifetime award, I think thats as good a time as any to make your statement.

I flipped the channel when she started on her diatribe
that was me exercising my rights

and I cannot think of one Streep movie Ive seen all the way through so I wont miss out by not watching the rest of them

Your venue is social media. Hers is a little bigger and higher profile. You come across as not only glaringly hypocritical by indulging in the same "opinion sharing" as her but also as a whiny bitch because your soapbox is not as widely seen as hers. Boo fricking hoo.

Golden globes are the perfect venue for sanctimonious, bubble dwelling political rants.

The election is over. I'm watching TV to relax. Accept your award thank your momma and STFU.
No place for politics. Her rant wasn't even factual. Fake news rant.
