I have a few older suits that are decent quality but don't fit like I would prefer them to, these days. They are several years old, are baggier than I would prefer now. Can a tailor effectively make a pair of pants for slim fitting? They "fit" fine in the waist and inseam length.

That's what tailors are for...

Yeah, I get that....I just didn't know how easy it was to completely change the entire fit of the suit.

It's not a "slim fit" suit.

ETA: Thanks, seriously. I have never re-tailored a suit. Only one to make it fit me more properly.

How nice are the suits? Find a reputable tailor and take them in. They may tell you it isn't worth it, as some tailoring jobs are cost prohibitive. In my experience they'll be pretty frank about what can be done and whether it is worthwhile relative to cost.

They aren't super nice, Men's Wearhouse-ish, maybe 2 for $500 or something?

I just don't wear them very often because I feel like a soup sandwich in them.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good tailor in Baton Rouge area for this type of work?

The better the fit "off the rack" the more a Tailor will be able to do for you.

That being said, any suit that has been in the hands of a good Tailor will look better on you than a generic suit straight off the rack.

You'll end up with a better fitting suit either way, it just might not be as modern a fit as you would hope for had you gone slim fit in the beginning.

Lee's Tailor at Highland and Keneilworth is good. There's also a guy at Community College and Government that is good- probably even better.

We're talking asians here, so they know their stuff.

You shouldn't have a problem finding a tailor to do this.
