The Warriors fan and University of Texas sophomore told Vocativ it was easy, really. All it took was a little Photoshop skill and a lot of moxie. “I’m pretty good with Photoshop, so Friday night I went ahead and bought a plane ticket with the idea that I’d go to this game and make a press pass and see if it would work,” Poag said. “Saturday morning I woke up and made this press pass and spent so much time on it I almost missed my flight.”

quote:

On his second pass around the stadium, he found an open door where a window washer had stepped out of the stadium. He walked up and started talking to the guy, when a security guard walked over. “I kind of stepped up and showed the guard my press pass real quick and she didn’t really say anything and sort of gave me a nod in, and I proceeded to walk past her. When I was about 15 yards past, I heard her say ‘Hey,’ but then I didn’t look back.”

quote:

After that, he waited. “I walked into the men’s bathroom and I took a stall and I literally pulled my pants down like I was taking a shite,” Poag said, “because no one is going to bother a guy taking a shite, and then I sat there for two hours.”

quote:

He also says he was probably able to get in without being questioned because he’s white and because he was wearing a suit. “Looking the part is a huge part of it. I think it’s pretty easy when you’re a white kid dressed in khakis with a suit on,” Poag said. “I think if you’re confident it helps.”

I hope he's happy, he used up all of Golden State's mojo for that day. Though I'm not saying he's directly responsible for the Warriors losing (he is).

Well...it's Bleacher Report...so it isn't like he was impersonating a real writer or anything. If you are a blogger with a pulse, you meet the criteria for BR.

but where did he sit?

I get using the pass to just get in the building, but you gotta sit somewhere during the game, and clearly he shed the suit for a frickin jersey so I know he wasn't sitting at the press table.

Yeah, well he's an idiot for bragging about it.

NY Times Article from 2007
quote:

Mr. Leli tried the same trick a week later, when the Mets played the Colorado Rockies. This time, he was stopped by detectives at the press entrance and arrested.

His journalistic foray took a detour to an arraignment in Queens Criminal Court, where Mr. Leli was hit with many charges, including criminal possession of a forged instrument, falsifying business records, petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal impersonation and criminal trespassing. The charges carried total penalties of up to seven years in jail.

But Mr. Leli pleaded guilty yesterday to a lesser charge, second-degree criminal impersonation, and was released — on condition that he stay away for three years from Mets home games and from KeySpan Park in Coney Island, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones, a minor league team owned by the owners of the Mets, as well as from the team’s spring training camp at Port St. Lucie, Fla. He was also fined $1,000.

That is fricking awesome. I'm fascinated by stuff like this. There was a Rick Reily article in SI years ago about a guy who snuck into big events like the Super Bowl and the Kentucky Derby every year

Some kid did this at the A&M vs bama game in 2012 and stood on the damn Aggy sideline dressed as a coach, even went into the locker room at halftime

A couple buddies of mine didn't have any money (we were in HS) to go to the 03 SECCG so they went to the dome, waiting til the 1st quarter started, then hung around one of the little outdoor smoking areas where people step out for a smoke break. They just hopped the little gate to get into that area, smoked a cig, then walked right on into the dome.

The Aggie players were just happy to have something other than a sheep to play with at halftime.

I'm glad he bragged about it. I hope he's prosecuted. This is an example of a story you tell your friends not something you blast on social media.
