Not for me. We bought a quarter steer at $1.65/lb on the hoof and paid $100 for our share of the processing. ...Had to borrow freezer space for all the meat!

Same situation but we have a deep freezer so no need to borrow space. I was actually on the way to pick it up when I heard Trump declare the state of emergency. Well stocked with hamburger, steaks, and roasts. Still need to stock up on pork for smoking though!

Found some decent (not great) ribeyes at Walmart late last week. Snagged 4 of those and fired them up today for Mother’s Day. Those were the last ribeyes in the store when I bought them, and they haven’t been back in stock that I’ve seen.

Bought some lower quality cuts from our local grocery a few weeks ago, and the meat quality was terrible.

Time to get my cattle feedlot back in operation. Wife has resisted so far, saying kids would be traumatized by butchering cattle that they’ve helped raise. Apparently that scarred her childhood. My childhood was enjoying the frick out of raising them, and then enjoying them even more when they hit my plate (not to mention the extra dinero I’d pick up from selling a couple sides of beef).

We had some trepidations about moving here with a 6 year old because we didn't think there were many kids. There are a hundred kids in our neighborhood. They just don't get outside like we did. I'd have known all of them in 3 weeks in 1985. No play date required.

Well I for one get meat from a butcher shop. If I’m gonna pay that much for meat I want the best I can get.

I'd think that would be a good opportunity for them to gain an appreciation of what they're eating and a respect for the process. Better than the abstract view of meat as a shrink-wrapped product that many people have.

A word of advice the only meat you should buy from wal mart is a name brand prewrapped chicken. The rest of it is garbage and pickled to keep it fresh. Serious.

I get all my my meat locally from Eunice Superette slaughterhouse. It's a little higher but worth it

This is like the TP shortage. A few random stores are out. A few pictures get on the internet and millions of people freak out over the same 3 pictures. They all run to the stores to hoard meat creating a shortage.

Went to HEB yesterday afternoon in Richmond/Rosenberg. Limits on meat but there was a lot of it. Stacked high and deep. The HEB supply chain in the Houston area is fine.

I'd just try to grow shrooms with them.

Ive gotten close with folks I’d have never met if not for this quarantine. And they all have kids close to Sun God Jr’s age.

It’s been really nice.

When someone mentions the meat shortage, I tell them that the concern with so many processors getting sick was that the meat would get tainted with the virus. I recommend plant-based alternatives since plants can’t get the WuFlu.

I figure that will leave more meat on the shelves for me.

We have a contractor who loves to crappie fish and I love to eat crappie.

Works out well for me.

You spelled sac-a-lait wrong. Twice.

ETA: I wish I had about a dozen of them right now and a hot pot of oil. Damn you.

Sack of milk?

Haven't heard that before,haha.

They're damn good no matter what we call them.

There are some Mennonites just north of us who raise catfish and sell boxes of filets.Since beef is falling in supply,I'm thinking of stocking up on fish.

I love me some fish, slaw and hushpuppies.

And beer,can't forget beer.

Yep. The Choctaw name for the fish is "sakli". When the Cajuns got here, they heard the Choctaw word as "sac-a-lait" and the fish has that pretty pure white meat, so the name stuck.
