Winn Dixie Prairieville was slammed w people so it may have just been high demand.

But I did hear the butcher say they are out of all pork and do not know when they will receive more. Lots of frozen chicken but limited fresh chicken.

Beef was limited too

Are y’all seeing similar things in your area?

Went to Sam's yesterday and no steaks. I've never seen that.

Yes how many more threads more threads do we need. Restaurants are also having trouble getting items.

It’s also Mother’s Day weekend. Lots of people cooking with sit down restaurants not available.

Not for me. We bought a quarter steer at $1.65/lb on the hoof and paid $100 for our share of the processing. ...Had to borrow freezer space for all the meat!

ETA: we buy this every year from another family in our livestock club. Purchase is unrelated to current situation. It's a high-dress show Angus. Best beef we've ever bought.

Washington State here. Went grocery shopping today at Winco and no meat shortages whatsoever. Went to Costco two days ago and saw shortages there, with older folks hovering over the meat cases and acting like vultures when the butchers wheeled out the carts. Super frustrating to watch.

From late April:

quote:

58 percent of workers at Tyson meat factory in Iowa test positive for coronavirus
An Iowa Public Health Department report showed that more than 700 workers contracted the virus at a meat plant in Perry.

LINK

I would imagine that's not an isolated thing. Even if the meat facilities are up and running they probably aren't running at full capacity.

Live cattle right out of the feedlots are selling for about 90c per pound right now. You can have them delivered anywhere in the south on a backhaul usually for about 5c per pound.

You go shafted.

Calandros on Siegen had a decent selection earlier today. Granted, it's not the cheapest but I picked up 3 prime NY strips for Mother's Day, a flank steak and some ground beef.

The media and people have been wishcasting a meat shortage for three weeks. I guess it will come true soon, but won't last for too long.

I was there today around 2. Didn’t seem low then, lots of people in the store though. Probably just a Mother’s Day rush.

It was that way last Saturday at Publix. I went back on Tuesday and they were restocked.

Sanderson Farms said they have cut capacity at their chicken processing plants due lower demands with schools and restaurants closed.
