If something like this goes on for years and you never had any idea of suspicion, you’re likely either an absentee parent for one reason or another or not a good parent and weren’t for a long time.
Most of the stories of events like this be it gymnastics, Boy Scouts, priests, etc are because a parent wasn’t around and wasn’t there for the kid and just kept letting their kid hang around adults without supervision and without question.

That’s a key point. Most abusers don’t target children with good parents and home lives. They target children that have nobody to go to and are more vulnerable.

Think about how selfish, low-character, shitty, useless, etc. a portion of the population is
Now consider that a lot, perhaps half or a majority, have kids
I know people in my circles who aren't "that into being parents" - but at least they're not psychopaths or narcissists and provide a decent life for their kids because they're intelligent, decent and have money. I worry about those kids somewhat, but they'll at least have stability and a normal upbringing.
Extending that mindset to the general population is horrifying
Now consider that a lot, perhaps half or a majority, have kids

I remember one of the dad's asked the judge for 5 mins with Nassar.

On the HBO documentary, it stated that Nassar befriended a lot of these girls parents to the point when some of these girls told their parents they thought there was no way he would do such a thing.. If I recall one of the girl's dad committed suicide. If I remember correctly, he was one that didn't believe his daughter right away.
As for as Maroney, I have no clue. She is an adult now, but we don't know what happens behind the scenes.
With that said, Nassar should be tortured. He really is one sick frick.

Exactly, saying catholic families that trusted priests with their sons in the 1960s, 70s, 80s were being bad parents is ridiculous. During that time period a priest was considered beyond reproach. Catholic boys were encouraged by their parents to become altar boys, and spend time with priests, no catholic parent would have seen a problem with it.

Truly an eye opening experience. Nassar isn't the only one who should be behind bars for this.
