i personally think the garbage\recyling service in EBR is excellent.

To me, it sounds like Mayor Broome is wanting to be "lobbied" and maybe collect some handouts from the highest bidder.

Its like an episode of the Sopranos.

If a new entity is selected to handle trash, would you assume she received bribes?

i called about getting a recycling bin a few years ago and they said i had to pay for one to be dropped off at my house. I said im not going to pay for a bin for them to make money off my recyclables.

i just dont see why you disrupt the service that seems to do a great job.

I feel like its one of those things Mayor's do when they have power to receive some kickbacks. Its the name of the game.

better watch out, we had the same thing happen, when we got a new County Leader.

The dumb arse, tried some shady shite on bids, and not only did we get a worse service, but the County had to pay $5mil in damages(lawsuit), for not opening the bids.

She should start with taking all the trash out in NBR. OF course she would have to go with them.
And knowing her type, this is 100% a hunt for kickbacks

From what I'm reading the contract is up. The Parish needs to either negotiate with the current company (if that's legal) or put pick up out for bids.

On the surface what Broome is doing seems to be fine; however, it is good to look at who donated to her campaign, who donated to her post election campaign coffers, etc. to determine if there is another reason for Ms Broome to go out for bids.

Personally I have no objection to a fair and open bid process to qualified participants, but I do think some weight should be given for proven performance or a penalty given for poor performance if that's the case.

IMHO, I'm happy with my service and I wouldn't change unless there was some good money to be saved.

What I would like to see is a public accounting of our huge sewer remediation program. Kip ran on a platform that he would save money with his sewer strategy because mayor Simpson's was too expensive.

Was Kip right? How much have we spent, and how much are we going to spend? Does anyone care?

This might be the wrong place to ask these questions, but I think Ms Broome could do herself some good by letting us know. I'm afraid no one will because consultants, engineers, and contractors are doing very well as things are now and they too contribute money to local campaigns.

Wouldn't doubt if that fat piece of shite is already trying to notify potential bidders that he has the Mayors ear.

Would be great to see his stupid arse get caught in a sting

How much was a bin? Couldnt be very much. To me it makes sense to charge for the bin so that the resident is now the owner of it. Then if they cancel service, they dont have to hunt down the resident to get the bin back.

I manage an environmental company and we pick up drums of haz and non haz waste. We charge for drums that the customers put the waste in. Reason we do that is bc there are alot of companies that ask for drums and then sometimes we never get the drums back. Hell alot of drums are sometimes taken by their employees and end up being used for burn drums or feed plots. But bc they paid for the drums, they can do with them as they please.

FBI sting operation called "Operation: Blighted Officials". Mayors of White Castle, New Roads, Donaldsonville, and a couple of other delta towns all ended up indicted because of it.

Supposedly Mayor Kip Holden laughed them out of his office. Not sure that Broome would do that.
