Master Electricians of the OT - I need some guidance

Here's a preemptive:
I installed a projector in the living room. This required me to move an outlet from the wall to the ceiling. It was cleaner for me to just replace the wire and run it straight to the ceiling outlet than cut the existing wire and add another junction box in the attic.
The power is running from a junction box in the attic where the attic light is. (4) 14/2 wires (two bedroom ceiling fans, stove, this outlet) and the doorbell go into this junction box.
After I re-ran the outlet wire and put everything together, everything works... EXCEPT for the ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms. The fan works, but the light flickers.
I never had any problems with the light before replacing that one wire. I'd like to think I could handle putting wire nuts and tape on some wire. I assume it's in the light kit (I haven't checked yet), but what would have changed when I replaced that wire? Anything else I should check aside from the light kit?

I would bet that one of your wire nut connections is loose.
Wire may have slipped back a bit in the bundle or even broke.
This can happen when you retwist copper.

Check the connection in the light kit.

In the junction box?
I re-did those three or four times. The only thing I didn't do was cut and re-strip the wires. The previous connection had 47 feet of tape on them, so maybe there's some residue?

When you were walking around in the attic perhaps you were stomping around. Check the cieling fan box for any loose wire nuts

Don't neglect to check the neutrals, as well. A lot of times people only think to look at the hots.
Might you have tried to cram too many wires under one nut? Might have given you a bad connection.

Does the power go to this junction box straight from the panel? Just curious.
Although I think your problem must where the wire from the ceiling fan is connected to the juction box. I assume the fan was working before so the wiring you did in the juction box must be the cause of the flickering. That or you pulled/stepped on the cable going to ceiling fan and created a bad connection in ceiling fan box? Does the light flicker just when fan is running? If so, the vibrations of fan moving would lead me to think that a bad connection is somewhere in fan.

Haven't tried the light without the fan. I'll try that.

are the fan and the light kit controlled by 1 switch or 2?

Bad move. You are just to place them next to each other and allow the wire nut to do its job. The wires can be loose and pull out, especially if stuffing back into a splice box.

?? the correct way is is use linesman pliers and twist before installing the nut. Most don't do this but it is the "correct" way. One reason is if you have several wires under one nut you won't be able to tighten enough with just your fingers to properly twist the wires together.

If just 2 wires, I always put the tips of each together and twist, letting the wire nut twist them together inside. However if multiple wires I begin the twist using pliers, all of them together.
