Every community has a Maryland. The guy or gal who is a little slow and needs help. The community rallies around them to provide clothing, food, shelter and whatever else can make their lives easier because we can and should. They are always hard working and willing to help others with anything. They are always respectful and appreciate the actions of others on their journey through life. They are always a pleasure to be around. Godspeed Maryland, you've touched the lives of many.

He was the friendliest guy. Used to strike up conversations with him when I would study at Highland Coffee. Sad to hear that he died.

I wonder if there will be some sort of gofundme to help with his family's funeral expenses. I don't know too much about the guy but I got the impression he came from a troubled background.

There probably should be. When the Reginelli's shut down his normal ride couldn't take him home, so I figured why not and gave him a ride back to Gardere. It was my only encounter with him despite walking by that area many times. He was very friendly, and we smoked a few joe's while listening to 70's music

Anyway he lived in a bad neighborhood, so that would be a great idea

I played touchscreen games against him back when the Bayou still existed. He was a good dude.

Sorry to hear this. He was a kind soul. I saw him a few months ago at a show, and though I hadn't seen him in at least 5 years, he knew who I was and where we had met.

I remember Maryland from my days of working as a waiter at Serranos. Always a kind soul who would frustrate you one moment and then make you laugh.

Just a person who loved life and made those around him smile. I am glad the love he showed was returned to him by so many.

Just seeing my Facebook news feed filled with memories and thoughts about Maryland is great to see. I spent pretty much 3 days a week around Maryland from '06-'11 and the one thing I always took away from him was that no matter how hard you think you have it or how tough times can be it could always be worse. Every week I would ask him if he could name every Michael Jackson song and he would start spitting them out in alphabetical order. I had to cut him off every time or he would name every one. I'm glad to see the outpouring of memories/thoughts of him. I wonder if he knew how many people appreciated his personality.

Lol, oh god... John Babun.

Unfortunately, I never knew Maryland but I definitely have seen him around the area quite a few times. It's sad and also heartwarming just reading his story

When did you serve at Serranos?

He used to come and aggravate me at the bar for pink lemonade then demand I receive a raise every single time, was a solid dude.

I'm sure those still working in the highland area are gonna miss him for sure, dynamic personality - and wasnt too bad at striking up conversations with the lady folk.
