I'm talking about Mad money accounts and/Or secret. Mad money being some amount that the other person doesn't know exactly or correctly and has nothing to do with it.

This is in my personal experience...small sample size obv. But is it that hard to believe? Over 50% of marriages fail.

I don't need one, I'm just honest with my wife about what I am spending money on and it is never an issue. If it's a purchase over a couple hundred bucks we just let the other know we are doing it and it has never been an issue. I will set a little cash aside to buy her birthday or Christmas gifts with so she doesn't see it on a statement ahead of time.

Marriage and divorce are both common experiences. In Western cultures, more than 90 percent of people marry by age 50. Healthy marriages are good for couples’ mental and physical health. They are also good for children; growing up in a happy home protects children from mental, physical, educational and social problems. However, about 40 to 50 percent of married couples in the United States divorce. The divorce rate for subsequent marriages is even higher.

Depends if you include subsequent marriages too...
Some say 40%

Yep, researchers have found that the rate of divorce in the U.S. actually peaked at about 40% around 1980 and has been declining ever since.

I have an account mine is not allowed to write checks on and has no Card/PIN # for.

She would never keep track of anything or tell me when she wrote checks so I got my own (private) account.

I married a financial idiot though

Only a selfish fricker would do that to his family. I do hide small amounts of cash in my wallet at times but it is only to do nice things for wife without her noticing.

Yeah what a dick

He doesn't know how big of an a-hole I'd be to my family if I wasn't able to unwind with some hookers and coke

It's really for their benefit

i did until we ran into a pickle and then it saved us. Now no more super secret account.

She was pissed at me for hiding it from her but grateful to have it to fall back on.
