Shreveport resident here.... don't pick Shreveport. There are things to do and can be a readonly fun town to visit if you have a reason, but mardi gras isn't one of them. All of the krewes are bland and devoid of any kind of personality. Barely any bands March, think a pre-mardi gras Metairie parade but more watered down.
If you don't wanna do NOLA maybe Lafayette or cajun mardi gras out in Mamou. Hell I think even Mobile would probably be a better option than Shreveport.

Yawn! Who cares, big waste of booze.

If you’ve never been to Mamou, I strongly encourage it.
Nothing like NO. Very different but still a blast.

Are you from New Orleans?
"Lafayette Street and St. Charles" in New Orleans is literally Gallier Hall, where the mayor/city's reviewing stand is. It is definitely "downtown".
Now if you meant a cross street earlier on the parade route in tree-lined Uptown, like Napoleon, Louisiana, or Washington Avenues that's much more like it.

Obviously you've never been to the Highland parade. It's the only parade in Shreveport that's genuinely fun and family friendly. I know saying anything Highland area related is family friendly is an oxymoron, but that one day it is. The East Texas and North Bossier rednecks can have Gemini/Centaur.

I mean yea... it's better than centaur and Gemini, but not something I'd recommend someone travel in for. And it does have personality I suppose but it mainly comes across to me as the, "look how quirky we are" grb/ki Mexico hipster cult.... but to your point still the best parade in SBC

Don't hate. You can leave the hottub with a beer or two and catch the parade with the kiddos, then be back in the water in 45 minutes tops

Was going to suggest Jonesville and Vidalia, super cool Krews in both metros.

Consider going down to Houma. Very family friendly.

lol as a New Orleanian lol just go to Shreveport
I’m born and raised and ride every year. Can’t speak to Shreveport Mardi Gras, but would go to Houma over Lafayette for safety.

Uhhhhhhhh. This is pretty much the heart of downtown parades.
This thread is hilarious though. Take your RV to the mountains paw paw I don’t think Mardi Gras is what you’re looking for.
