Noriega recently underwent an operation after suffering a haemorrhage following brain surgery. Noriega had been a key US ally but was forcibly removed when American troops invaded in 1989 and was later jailed in the US on drugs and laundering charges. He was also convicted in France, and then in Panama for murder, corruption and embezzlement. He had been released from jail in January to prepare for the brain operation.

Invasion put a dent in my social life. I was there from December 1989 until March 1990. Deposing foreign governments over banking policies is bad precedent in my opinion.

This is a great case of a 'who the hell even knew he was still alive?' death notice.

I was watching something about the Navy Seals a couple days ago and they did a piece on the Panama invasion. Almost Googled Noriega to see what happened to him but didn't because I assumed he was dead by now.

Didn't psy-ops teams blast hair band music into his compound to get him to come out?

They blasted him with a wall of nonstop Warrant. He wasn't in there thirty minutes before giving up.

Seems like I remember he was holed up for a while. Van Halen's "Panama" was played a lot, as well.

I never got the playlist but will ask next time I see him. It seems like I remember him saying Back in Black, GNR, Metallica, and huge rations of Cherry Pie.

The girl from the video was Miss Teen Louisiana 1987 and is 47 now.

Little known fact: Panama was the first combat mission for the F-117. It had been in operation since 1983 but this was the first time it's use was publically acknowledged
