I agree with your point, but not in the context that you're making it. I would be willing to bet that 99.99% of people that have heard about this (excluding his family members) have decided this is too long to read.
This site would be far less annoying if tl;dr and alpha/beta disappeared forever. Fortunately the alpha/beta crap is the overused phrase du jour and will quickly run up its 15 minutes. TL;DR is probably here to stay though.
