A subsequent search of Martinez's home yielded multiple packages of marijuana and more than $6,000 in cash, police said.

Martinez was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder, weapons violations, and drug offenses. He is not allowed to carry a weapon because he is a former convict, police said.

Not sorry

People need to stop treating marijuana like it's cocaine or heroin. Especially the federal government.

Well how else can they continue to marginalize the black community and keep blacks in prison?

You must have missed this part:

If you're going to get on your stump about marijuana, this case involving an ex convict (who is not leaglly allowed to carry a gun) having packages of bud, a large amount of cash and shooting someone is probably not where you should bring it up.

Just saying.

I fully expect the narrative in 15 years to be how the government regulations on legalized weed is keeping the black man down.

It's dumb that a person can't defend themself from armed burglars.

Even if convicted of a former crime, if a person comes looking to kill and steal a person should be able to defend themself.

There's no need to "defend" yourself from someone who is trying to flee.

If you break into someone's house, getting shot in the head is one of the risks you take. I'm glad the burglar is dead, and I don't feel too bad that the man who shot him has been arrested. Sounds like the world will be a better place without them.

Two people are breaking into your home and one has a 1911, and a crowbar..they assume you're an easy target because they know of a prior conviction. So, you open fire, they are surprised and try to run obviously.

So, murder charge for you even though they were armed.

Well, obviously, if you make up your own facts you are always going to be correct that they support your assumptions. Or maybe you were an eyewitness to this event and have more information than everyone else?

Don't pretend you know how you would handle yourself in that scenario without training.

There would be no need to "defend" himself if the assholes didn't break into his home.

I'd proudly sit on that jury and acquit him of all murder and marijuana charges. He shouldn't have had a gun though.
