I work in sports media and I've seen multiple places I've worked take down reports. It isn't something we do after the case, but if the person is found innocent, doesn't take a plea or lose their case obviously, then we take the story down per request.
Now, I can't speak for every newspaper in the country, but the ones I've been at that's what we've done.
ETA: But yeah, it's bullshite that peoples futures can be totally fricked by accusations like this.
