I bet in time most people just wish they would still have a dad to call, well, anything really.

I wish my Daddy was still alive just to call him Daddy.

My son calls me Dad and Daddy at times. He is 37.

Hmmm. I'm betting you've never had to say the words, "I wish my daddy were still here". It all makes sense after that.

I'm guessing it is a Southern thing because I have never in my life seen anyone over the age of 10 call their dad daddy. Not going to lie it seems very weird and creepy to me that a grown man would be saying it.

The "others" are either morons or geographically challenged.

It depends on how its pronounced.

If its "daddy", then it sounds kind of girly/uppity.

"Deddy" is how country boys say it.

The more observant of us consider it as an intersection of a black hole of culture and a massive genetic experiment gone horribly awry.

Both sides of the family (very country people) referred to my grandfathers as "Deddy", and it's definitely a southern thing. My son started calling my that as soon as he could talk from my Mom referring to me as that and it kinda stuck. My father-in-law is telling my son to call him "Pop" and I think it's fricking faggy and yankeeish. My opinion might be skewed because I hate the mother fricker and everything he does.

I was 59 when I lost my daddy. We all get to pick our terms of endearment.

If you were in your 50's and your 2 sons in their 20's did it, you would think it was awesome.

I think it's weird when they call their dad "Father." Pull that stick out of your arse and be a little informal for a change.

Never heard anyone not from Mississippi use the word daddy.
