The world will always be at risk with new viruses being transmitted due to Chinese traditional medicine and exotic meat markets. You can't fix stupid.

And from a statistical point of view it will remain minuscule compared to other major forms of death in this country.

Who gives a frick? Why do y'all always stick to the point about other shite causing more deaths? What happens to the death toll when so many people are sick at the same time and it overwhelms the health system? The goal for everyone should be to prevent people from getting sick and dying.. Above all else.

My wife is pregnant and one of her coworkers came into today with a fever and coughing. The clinic refused to even see him. But yet he came to work and nobody made him go home because people don't view this thing as something dangerous.

The people who are out of a job because of your mass hysteria.

Is your wife's work full of 70+ year olds? Because if not, it's not something dangerous. To include to your wife.

yep- and jobs, money and economies can be recovered. Dead people can’t. I’ve seen way too many people die in my lifetime way before their time and you never get over it.

Amazingly ever single person who utters these words is in a job safe from impact (right now) by government policies.

Do you think demand for goods and services will be lower long term after this passes? Why?

What the government is doing is not an overreaction. Buying 20 cases of toilet paper is an overreaction.

Agreed.

Sadly the government is left with little choice because a large number of our citizens can not afford to electively quarantine themselves and of the citizens that can afford to, they choose not to. So the governments are forced to reduce or eliminate the opportunities for large scale spread.

It sucks for so many people who lose jobs or income. But if we do nothing, this thing will continue to spread and possibly mutate into something worse.

I'm part owner of my small business, and this shutdown is going to royally frick us. But I'd rather that than have it on my conscience that I killed one of our clients or an employee's family member

Do you think mandatory closing or limitation of businesses being able to operate will affect demand for goods and services? Why?

Explain how a restaurant will continue to fully employ all of its staff when they are forced to close their dining rooms for the foreseeable future?

Not when my question frames the problem you're unwilling to address.

Newsflash, a lot of people die on a daily basis.

A lot more people are dying from things other than Coronavirus. It’s a minuscule number comparatively.

This lining of thinking is idiotic. Are you suggesting we do nothing?

Your question ignores entire swathes of industry that rely on customer-facing operations.

Your inability to comprehend this shows that either A) you're a fricking moron or B) you don't give a shite about that part of the working populace.

No, I am not. Closing businesses temporarily sucks. Agree that the financial toll will be felt mostly by those who cannot afford it. I dont know what the right answer is. But ultimately, slowing a deadly, contagious disease isn't a bad thing.
