MDA saved my mom. She had stage 4 lymphoma in her neck and stomach. Oschner was content to let her die.

A poster on here once stated that places like MD Anderson take only cases they feel they can win to pad their stats.

It would be just the opposite. They take whoever calls and schedules an appointment. But people from all over the country and world that have been told they have no hope by other cancer hospitals come to MD Anderson.

Fwiw, my doctor here in BR has treated patients that MD Andersons turned away, just saying ....

MDA will refuse to see people that are seeking second opinions for specific cancers after being previously diagnosed, or if they have already been treated and there are no further treatment options.

I had non-Hodgkins abdominal lymphoma back 25 years ago( way before the things they have today). Tumor size of a grapefruit in my gut. 20% survival rate. My chemo was overseen by doctors at Vanderbilt University. Not MD Anderson but just as good. Cork, tell your mom attitude is 75% of the battle. You have to have a focus and purpose to beat the devil.

UPDATE: after being incorrectly diagnosed with ovarian cancer, I can't help but think the power of prayer had something to do with my mother's current diagnosis of non Hodgkin's lymphoma (which is a much better scenario than ovarian cancer). Thank you to all you sent positive thoughts and prayers my way. You have no idea how much it means to us.

Now, I have another favor to ask.....she spent hours at MD Anderson again today doing more blood work, scans, yadda yadda yadda. There is one test in particular she is waiting to get the results back from. We are hoping that test comes back MYC negative. This will determine a huge difference in her treatment options. So, please, if you do pray, please be specific about praying for a MYC negative test result. We should hear the test results tomorrow.

Again, thanks to everyone from the bottom of my heart for any prayers and positive thoughts. They are working!
