Define "luxury". I can't imagine the Escalade or a Denali would be omitted from the list. They're all priced high as giraffe pussy. But the Escalade is pretty awesome. That'd be my choice.

GM sells a ton of those for a reason.

They are excellent vehicles.

Looks like he wants to stay in the $55-65K range.

If they prove to be reliable, the XC-90 will be my wife's next ride. The new ones are legitimately bad arse. Especially with the LED headlights and iPad-size screen.

I wanted a GX 460 because it seems like it should be great (real 4x4, compact but seats 7, etc.) but I can't get over how slow it is. It drives like a late 90's 4Runner.

I know a new Land Cruiser is prohibitively expensive (and is for 95% of us) but you can find deals on used ones IF you're patient. There are actually way more of the Lexus LX570's on the market. Either because most people don't like to fly under the radar when dropping $80-100k on a vehicle or they value the air conditioned seats of the Lexus. I prefer the Toyota but they're both bullet proof.

People say this really don't know anything about buying vehicles.

Used stuff is way overpriced, it has no factory warranty, but it does cost more to finance so there's that.

This might have been halfway decent advice in the 90's, but it is really bad advice now.

Sorry for the rant, but this silly crap needs to be laid to rest.

You're right for nearly all vehicles but the Land Cruiser gets punched in the mouth with depreciation for some reason. Maybe because most people can't tell a difference between it and a Sequoia costing $30k less. Maybe because those in the market are the type to buy new and keep it for 15 years.

This post is crap. If he wants a luxury suv, it can be had in his price range. And a good vehicle can be found.

Posted this before but relevant: that's a new 2015 Yukon behind me. With a broken LED driving light. No, his blinker wasn't on. GM still can't build their most profitable vehicle with working DRL's. It would be funny if it weren't so sad.

I took note of this opinion so I started paying attention

There are far more white execs driving this vehicle new than black people, which you pretty much only see in the older models

The GM big SUV's really do well on resale. Lexus/Toyota do well also. MB is fair, as is Infiniti. Rovers are fire sale prices.

The old rule of thumb holds true, if it was popular mew, it will be popular used.

People saying to buy a 2-3 year old vehicle to save money really don't have a clue.
