Might need to get your testosterone checked. Either that or Darth Gayder turning you to the pink side.

No! The baton girls had their final year at LSU during my freshman year. They were a nightmare to deal with. It's stupid and most of them are fat.

I was in TGBFTL 84-88

The Rifle Line's last year was my first year...1986.

All those guys were pretty darn "fabulous"...

We had a baton twirler in high school. She was pretty meh my freshman year. My sophomore year she kicked it up a notch with 2 batons. My junior year we went ape-shite when she lit the thing on fire and started twirling.

If you can promise me all of the batons are on fire, then I may reconsider

Where will they come from? Twirling is still somewhat popular in high school bands here in Alabama but it's declining. In Mississippi and Tennessee they're not popular. It's the influence of drum corps style marching.

Being a good twirler takes years of practice. It's easier to learn how to spin a flag and easiest to just be on the dance line.

I'm pretty sure now that they all are required to wear camel toe hiding cups.

Baton twirling limits the amount of dancing they can do, without enhancing the overall visual of the band. So, they don't look as good as the Golden Girls close up and they don't make the band look better from far away.

So, why would you bring them back?

While I acknowledge the dedication all of them, I would completely disagree with that. Being on a dance line is hardest, both in the competition to make the line and in the level of practice required to get the routines right. Next would be twirling and flags, while not simple, would be easiest. My flag-girl wife agrees with me.

As a former danceliner (hs not college) and a twirler many years earlier, making twirling look good is much more difficult, which is why it rarely does

And is the op not loading? Or is this a typical Jim Rockford crap thread and he put no pics in his post?

Didn't ULL have a male twirler a few years back?

Or, at the least, one good male baton twirler who can really sling it high, juggles flaming batons, not look gay doing it.

The Akron Zips always had a male baton guy while I was growing up and he could steal the show.

Flag girls do nothing for me.

I do enjoy the Golden girls.
