LSU ME's design BR-Nola hyperloop. Would you ride it?

The Advocate
A group of LSU students has built a test model of what they say could be the future of transportation — a pod that would float inside an enclosed vacuum tube and travel fast enough to get a rider from Baton Rouge to New Orleans in a matter of minutes.
They’ll soon find out how their prototype stacks up against about 20 other designs. The 16 students will leave Thursday for Hawthorne, California, to begin practice runs on a one-mile Hyperloop track ahead of a competition they’ll participate in Jan. 27-29.
Hyperloop is a concept that inventor Elon Musk, whose SpaceX space exploration company recently opened the test track, first pitched in 2013. Hovering pods theoretically would sail through a tube at 500 to 600 mph.
If a hyperloop was actually built, would you ride it? I think the challenge will be placing a station that is convenient for passengers. If I have to drive 30 minutes to the station, I may as well drive the hour to nola myself.
My thought is the hyperloop concept would be better suited for a MSY/BTR/IBH route than a rather local route such as this.

Pretty cool concept, I know some of the guys on the team.

Those pods will look great with graffiti all over them.

Tubes are the future. The Jetsons called it.

What is this, a pod for ANTS?
It needs to be at least 3 times this size.

These will only accommodate a small percentage of travelers. Not only do you have to drive to a station, but you have to arrange transportation on the remote end, unless you can walk to your destination. For an hour trip with $2 gas, it will be tough to justify.
I am interested in the force impacts on travelers going 500-600 mph and how they combat that.

I agree. I just think a hyperloop needs to connect all major cities in a region to actually be economically feasible.
Something like: Pensacola to Mobile to Biloxi to Nola to Br to Laffy to Lake Charles to Houston. With some "express" Nola -> Houston routes as well

Me too. I'm tired of seeing planes landing with half the passengers dead from blunt force trauma.

Slow the acceleration/deceleration so that the G forces aren't all at once. It's not rocket science.

If the Nola station is in the CBD it will be very useful. the BR station is the tricky one. If you place it Downtown, I can see a number of BR residents not seeing it as convenient.

I do love when the pilot drops those twin GE's to MAX POWER tho!

I'll keep my car, thanks.

Let me tell you a story about a thing called airplanes...

It's in a closed vacuum tube without that won't be visible to the outside...
If they spray paint the moving cars they wouldn't have to worry about an open casket funeral.

It's going to cost too much.
It's not going to be ready in time.

I see hyperloops being extremely useful for places like San Diego/LA/San Francisco/Sacramento or Boston/New York/Philly/DC/Baltimore, Dallas/Houston/Austin/San Antonio.
New Orleans/BR...not so much.
shite, I could see one connecting across the Country from LA to Chicago to New York before one from New Orleans to BR.

Assuming constant acceleration/decelration, and a 5 minute ride covering 75 miles, I am getting roughly half a G for acceleration and deceleration.
